I'm going to be away for the weekend, starting this evening and running through Tuesday, for Halloween shenanigans at moonbeam13 (https://www.deviantart.com/moonbeam13)'s house with some of the other CR team volunteers! I've known all three of the people coming (Lyricanna (https://www.deviantart.com/lyricanna), DaPineapple (https://www.deviantart.com/dapineapple) and Nyx-Valentine (https://www.deviantart.com/nyx-valentine)) for seven plus years and somehow in that time have only ever met Lyricanna (https://www.deviantart.com/lyricanna) once and the other two never so this is pretty exciting and I will not be checking my message center regularly so if you're waiting four days for note replies I apologize in advance (#sorrynotsorry). I've packed my last pack of genuine Polaroid 600 film so expect pictures to follow at some point, may

General Photography DD Round-Up: October 2015
%communityrelations (https://www.deviantart.com/communityrelations) Welcome!
This month the general photography CVs - Kaz-D (https://www.deviantart.com/kaz-d), isthisthingstillon (https://www.deviantart.com/isthisthingstillon) and myself - set a total of 88 DDs across nearly every gallery we cover! Many thanks to everyone who's suggested to us, and as always we need more suggestions so don't be shy! Our guidelines are linked at the bottom of this article, and we tend to get a lot more People and Portraits suggestions than anything else so bonus points if you send us great pieces from the "weird" galleries. Self-suggestions are always welcome if you have a piece of your own that you think we should see!

If you've ever wondered how to get a Photography studio into your own house, for not a lot of money, then wonder no more! This article from BGR gives you some tips on how to get your own home studio up and running with a lighting kit from Amazon costing about $100. At the same time we're being spoiled this month by some great photography tips as Petapixel have been giving some advice on starting up your own photography business.
Have you heard of Stroboscopic Photography? Well, it's amazing. It's the term for something that a lot of us can (inadvertently) achieve with little effort or by accident, although admittedly the photographs shared

Street photography and telephoto lens
Community Week
There is no “perfect” focal length for Street Photography
Many photographers are not a fan of using telephoto lenses in street photography. Generally they find telephoto lenses too impersonal, without the sense of intimacy that lenses with focal lengths of 28mm-55mm (35mm and 50mm in particular) produce. The believe that these shorter focal lengths force you to get closer to your subject (sharing their human condition and feeling their environment).
However, if you analyze the works of Leiter, whose street photography is shot with a relatively long lens you have to change your mind: he compresses his scenes cre

That's what I am now. :evillaugh:
My Sony Alpha NEX-F3 died when I was in Washington DC couple of months ago. It has served me well for a good 4 years before the USB slot came off making me unable to recharge the battery or transfer my images until I get a card reader. At the cost of getting it fixed I would rather get a new one. I have had Canons, Sony Alphas, and my last camera, the NEX. From high-end EOS with single digits to a prosumer kit. Lately I haven't been doing much photography professionally so I'm guessing I won't be buying another camera for awhile. But I do use Instagram and Facebook a lot and I shoot on the whim, so I guess I

Editing of infrared photographs using Photoshop
Infrared Photography
I would like to show you my way of editing infrared photographs using Photoshop CC and the NIK plugins Viveza 2 and Silver Efex Pro 2. I started about 10 years ago with infrared photography using a Fuji S3 Pro body and two Nikon lenses. Having not been satisfied with the endless exposure times, I bought a used Nikon D70 having taken lots of infrared photographs over some years. In 2013 I decided to buy a new Nikon D90 body and had it converted to 720 nm.
My newer infrared photographs are all taken with the Nikon D90 converted to 720nm by Optik-Makario, Germany. At the moment, I am using a 18-70mm and an 18-200mm lens by

Infrared Photography
We have had a fantastic week here at projecteducate (https://www.deviantart.com/projecteducate) focusing on Infrared Photography. Huge thanks go to all those involved who have made this week possible because it was the first of its kind on this theme and we needed to hit Infrared hard. How have we done? Have you got more answers than questions about Infrared Photography now? How has the week impacted, helped or stimulated you? We would LOVE to have your feedback. Here's an overview of what went on this week:
